While we can’t control the weather, we can closely monitor it and use the data to make your home more efficient.

Local weather data is captured from the Internet and updated every fifteen seconds from either a local weather station, or a dedicated weather station in your back yard.

The setup of the Capstone system includes entering your ZIP code and the longitude and latitude of your home. This enables the system to find the closest weather stations, and also to determine sunrise and sunset times each day.

Local weather data, as well as being interesting, is extremely useful in tailoring events for your home. Here are two weather-related scenarios that many customers have used:

1. If the outside air temperature falls below a defined level, your heat will automatically turn on. 2. If the wind speed is more than fifteen miles per hour OR there has been more than one quarter of an inch of rain in the last three days, your irrigation system won't water the yard.
